OREANDA-NEWS. The risk of early death can be reduced if you walk at a fast pace for 24 minutes a day, or you can spend the same time for physical activity of medium intensity.  To such conclusions came an international group of scientists.  Research results are published in the British Medical Journal.

Specialists studied eight studies, in which a total of 36 thousand people older than forty years took part.  The subjects were divided into four groups according to the level of their daily activity, on average, their life was observed for about six years.

The observation showed that the risk of premature death in the most mobile category of people is reduced by 73 percent, and in the second most active group - by 66 percent.

The study also showed that the risk of premature death is significantly increased if a person spends more than nine hours in a sitting position.
