OREANDA-NEWS Russian boxer Muslim Gadzhimagomedov won the gold medal of the 2023 World Championship in Tashkent.

In the final in the weight category up to 92 kg, he defeated the representative of Italy Aziz Muhiydin.

Thus, Gadzhimagomedov became a two-time world champion. Previously, he won the highest dignity award at the World Championships in 2019. He is also the silver medalist of the Summer Olympic Games held in Tokyo in 2021.

Earlier at the 2023 World Cup, Sharabutdin Atayev (category up to 86 kg) won the gold medal as part of the Russian national team, Edmond Khudoyan (up to 48 kg), Dmitry Dvali (up to 54 kg), Vsevolod Shumkov (up to 60 kg), Imam Khatayev (up to 80 kg) became bronze medalists.

The competitions were held in 13 weight categories. The prize fund of the tournament is $ 5.2 million. The winners will receive 200 thousand dollars, silver medalists - 100 thousand, bronze - 50 thousand.

According to the IBA decision, Russian boxers got the opportunity to compete at the World Championship under the flag of the Russian Federation. A number of national teams decided to boycott the tournament in protest against this decision.
