OREANDA-NEWS The Russian authorities will open a customs checkpoint at a commercial seaport in the Zaporizhia region. This is reported by RBC with reference to a letter from Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Saveliev to President Vladimir Putin.

The prospect of creating a checkpoint in the Berdyansk seaport is explained by the need to systematize and tighten state control over the reception of foreign goods into Russia. This was announced back in October 2024 by the Governor of the Zaporizhia region, Yevgeny Balitsky.

Due to the "specifics of the attitude of foreign buyers to the newly formed Russian territories," customs clearance of goods passing through the port of Berdyansk is conducted by the Federal Customs Service (FCS) of the Krasnodar Territory, he noted. For this reason, the time of goods leaving Russia and the costs of Russian export companies for their transportation are multiplying. At the same time, the customs authorities of the Black Sea ports are significantly overloaded and are forced to carry out ship registration at the roadstead.

"The entire volume of grain passing through the port is exported in various directions," the head of the region said.
