OREANDA-NEWS  Since the beginning of 2023, beer supplies to Russia have soared. The import of beverages from January to June increased by almost 35 percent in annual terms and amounted to 179.9 million liters, the current figures are 20.8 and 4.7 percent higher than in 2019 and 2020, respectively, with reference to data from beer market participants, Kommersant reports.

Largest provider of beer in Russia remained Germany — yoy shipments increased by 46.4% to 102,7 million liters. The import of beverages from Belgium doubled and amounted to 19.4 million liters. Deliveries from the Czech Republic increased by 32.4 percent, to 19.2 million liters. Beer imports from China also doubled, to 8.4 million liters

Most of the imports were provided by retailers, according to Managing Director of X5 Import Artem Pereslavtsev, deliveries are increasing due to their own trademarks (STM) and exclusive brands. German factories often produce beer under the brands of retail chains, and it is popular in Russia, as German drinks are associated with high quality, added Nikolai Zhelagin, founder of the beer store chain "I take a day off".
