OREANDA-NEWS  The Moscow Arbitration Court has ordered the Russian textbook publisher Prosveshchenie to transfer more than two billion rubles to the budget. This is reported by RBC.

The trial took place in the framework of two cases brought against the publishing house by the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS). After examining the company's income and expenses, as well as financial results, prices and sales figures for textbooks, the agency in April 2024 accused the company of setting monopolistically high prices. The regulator ordered Prosveshchenie to reduce the prices of these textbooks and pay to the federal treasury. At the same time, the company filed a motion to close the court session due to the presence of information constituting a trade secret in the case file. However, the court left it open.

In August 2024, the Federal Antimonopoly Service also drew attention to history textbooks for grades 10-11. The publisher was threatened with a turnover fine, but representatives of "Enlightenment" said that prices had already been reduced by 20 percent compared to previous textbooks on the subject. The court decided to suspend the case.

As previously noted in the department, the FAS filed a case against the publishing house, as it increased the prices of a number of textbooks more than the costs of production and sales increased. This led to an increase in profitability that significantly exceeded the industry average. At the same time, the publishing house occupies a dominant position in the market of school textbooks, the agency noted.
