OREANDA-NEWS. British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss reiterates that Russia is allegedly preparing a "false flag operation" in Ukraine, while the minister does not provide any evidence.

“We assume that a “false flag operation” may take place. There will be claims that they were provoked - as a pretext for a Russian invasion. We are in the business of ... revealing their attempts to bring a “puppet regime” to power in Kiev ... What we assume will happen over the next few days is an attempted "false flag operation" to create a pretext and say that the Ukrainians are attacking them so that the Russians have an excuse to invade Ukraine" , - said the head of the British Foreign Office in an interview with Sky News.
When asked by the host of the channel if Britain had "evidence", Truss said that the Russian Federation allegedly acted in a similar way before.

“This is definitely in the repertoire of Russian actions. Conducting cyber attacks, trying to undermine the legitimacy of the Ukrainian government and using “false flag operations” in order to justify a pretext for an invasion,” the British Foreign Secretary said.

The statement of the British minister was made against the backdrop of the return of Russian troops to their places of deployment after the exercises. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday reported that "some of the exercises are coming to an end, some will be completed in the near future." The Southern and Western military districts of the Russian Federation have begun returning troops to their places of deployment, Major General Igor Konashenkov, spokesman for the Russian Defense Ministry, told reporters on Tuesday.

Earlier, the United States warned that Russia could attack Ukraine any day, using as a pretext a provocation - a "false flag operation" against its own forces or Russian-speaking residents of a neighboring country. Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov called information war the words about the preparation of a provocation in Ukraine.

The Russian Foreign Ministry noted earlier that Western statements about "Russian aggression" and the possibility of helping Kiev defend itself against it are both ridiculous and dangerous.
