OREANDA-NEWS. As Czech President Milos Zeman stated in an interview with the Prague newspaper Mladá fronta DNES on Thursday, it is completely unnecessary to make Alexei Navalny a martyr. According to Zeman, "it is unnecessary for Navalny to be made a martyr. Let him stand as a candidate, let him fight for the sympathy of voters."

Also, the head of the Czech Republic compared the situation with Navalny with the situation with the blocking of the page of former US President Donald Trump on Twitter. As the Czech president said, "putting someone in custody is a form of censorship. Censorship of a candidate."

The Russian Foreign Ministry previously advised foreign politicians commenting on the situation with Navalny to respect international law and deal with the problems of their countries, and on Monday Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that the statements of Western politicians on the Navalny topic are simply surprisingly similar to each other.

The press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov agreed with Lavrov, who noted that the Kremlin did not intend to listen to statements from abroad about the blogger Alexei Navalny.

According to the Federal Penitentiary Service, Navalny was detained for repeated violations of the probationary period as a suspended sentence; on December 29, 2020, he was put on the wanted list in the Russian Federation.
