OREANDA-NEWS Sanctions against the Russian Center for Science and Culture (RCSC) In Helsinki, they were almost completely removed at the end of June, follows from the documents of the Finnish Foreign Ministry obtained by the business publication Kauppalehti.

Earlier, in connection with the EU sanctions imposed in connection with the Russian special military operation in Ukraine, the Finnish Debt Collection Authority decided on March 10 to arrest the RCSC bank accounts.

"The sanctions against the Russian Center for Science and Culture operating in Helsinki were mostly lifted at the end of June," the statement said. It is clarified that the RCSC appealed to the Finnish Foreign Ministry with a request to allow the use of frozen funds on accounts, indicating 21 options for various payments, for example, for utilities, electricity, and so on. The RCSC was also allowed to use a dollar account in a Finnish bank and exchange currency into euros.

"We are not talking about the lifting of sanctions, but about the possibility of derogation from the provisions on sanctions, so to speak, to meet the basic needs of a person under sanctions. The exception was made precisely so that it would be possible to take care of the maintenance of frozen property," Pia Sariwaara, head of the sanctions department of the Finnish Foreign Ministry, told the publication.
RIA Novosti has requested comments from the RCSC, the Russian Embassy in Finland, but they have not yet been received.
