OREANDA-NEWS   In Russia, they wanted to establish a mandatory minimum for the reuse of garbage. The corresponding draft was prepared by the Ministry of Natural Resources, the document was published in the Electronic Fund of Legal and Regulatory and Technical Information.

According to the proposed amendments, in 2025, at least 20 percent of secondary resources should be extracted from the total volume of household waste entering the processing facility. It is assumed that in 2026 the target will be increased to 30 percent.

The discussion of the project will end on August 10. The current version of the document on Uniform Requirements for Solid Municipal Waste (MSW) treatment facilities, which may be amended by the Ministry of Natural Resources, does not establish a mandatory minimum of waste reuse.

Earlier, the Russian Environmental Operator (REO) proposed banning clothes from being thrown into trash cans. The organization is discussing such an initiative with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Business. As an alternative way to get rid of unnecessary things, Russians are offered recycling.
