OREANDA-NEWS The Federation Council proposed to create an "Insurance for IT" in Russia in case of cyber attacks and data leaks, this was announced by Deputy Chairman of the Council for the Development of the Digital Economy under the Federation Council, Senator Artem Sheikin, RIA Novosti reports.

The senator pointed out that insurance by analogy with automobile insurance will be able to protect companies in the event of these problems and will significantly improve cybersecurity in the country.

The relevant recommendations were sent to the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank to develop mechanisms for co-financing the costs of critical infrastructure facilities through cyber risk insurance.

According to Sheikin, "Insurance for IT" will also help mitigate possible financial losses and risks for ordinary citizens and companies, in addition, the initiative will stimulate organizations to take additional measures to protect their own information infrastructure.

Earlier, the Russian Interior Ministry said that the police want to get the right to freeze spending transactions on the accounts of suspected cyber fraud without a court decision for up to ten days.
