OREANDA-NEWS The Russian government has submitted to the State Duma a bill to increase the minimum wage in 2024 to 19,242 rubles. The text of the document is posted in the Duma electronic database.

The explanatory note states that the increase in the indicator will be 18.5 percent, and the adoption of the bill will contribute to an increase in wages of about 4.8 million workers. Thus, the minimum wage will increase by exactly three thousand rubles from the current 16,242 rubles.

The bill also contains an initiative to increase the ratio of the minimum wage and the median salary — from January 1, 2025, it should be at least 48 percent, whereas until now it was set at 42 percent of the median salary.

Earlier on September 29, it became known from the draft budget submitted by the Cabinet of Ministers to the State Duma that the federal living wage per capita in Russia in 2024 will increase to 15,453 rubles. For the able—bodied population, the indicator will reach 16,844 rubles, for pensioners it will be 13,290 rubles, for children — 14,989 rubles. The subsistence minimum for each category will be indexed to the projected inflation rate by the end of 2023 — 7.5 percent
