OREANDA-NEWS  In the capital of Serbia, the leadership of the embassies of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, representatives of the Serbian authorities, representatives of Rossotrudnichestvo and public organizations laid wreaths and flowers at the monuments to the soldiers-liberators in World War II and Russian soldiers and officers of the First World War on Defender of the Fatherland Day, RIA Novosti correspondent reports.

On Defender of the Fatherland Day, the leadership of the Russian Embassy, headed by Envoy's adviser Andrei Temyashov, Ambassador of Belarus Sergei Malinovsky and Ambassador of Kazakhstan Madi Atamkulov, together with diplomats, representatives of the military attaches of the Russian Federation and Belarus, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Veterans Affairs of Serbia Zoran Antich, a delegation of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic, members of public organizations laid wreaths and flowers at the memorials Russian and Soviet soldiers of the First and Second World Wars in the center of the Serbian capital.

Then the delegation moved to the monument above the tomb with the remains of Russian soldiers and officers near the Iver Chapel, where they also laid wreaths. An honor guard of the Serbian military was built in front of the monument.

The "Russian Necropolis" in Belgrade was opened after reconstruction on August 1, 2014 to mark the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War. Russian Russian Memorial is located in the Serbian capital on the territory of a New cemetery, where there are several burial sites of Russian emigrants and a monument of "Russian Glory" dedicated to those who died in the First World War. This is one of the largest graves abroad. About 3,500 Russians are buried here, including about 1,360 generals, officers and soldiers who participated in the First World War.
