OREANDA-NEWS The International Skating Union (ISU) has complained of losses due to the suspension of Russian figure skaters from competitions under its auspices. This is reported on the organization's website.
The financial report for 2024 indicates that operating losses amounted to 8.5 million francs (9.1 million euros), which is 5.9 million francs (6.3 million euros) more than in 2023. "An important market remains closed, and the level of competition is decreasing due to the absence of a number of elite athletes," the organization noted.
The ISU also noted a drop in profits from commercial activities. This was also attributed to the absence of Russian athletes.
Russian athletes were banned from participating in tournaments under the auspices of the ISU in March 2022. The last major start for domestic athletes was the Beijing Games.
