OREANDA-NEWS  The governor of the Kamchatka Territory, Vladimir Solodov, acknowledged the problems with salmon fishing in the region, as he told Russian President Vladimir Putin. This is reported by Izvestia.

According to Solodov, Kamchatka's fisheries sector is in a difficult position due to the low salmon yield. And scientists predict an unfavorable situation in the coming years, he explained.

In addition, according to Solodov, the situation is affected by sanctions that have limited the sale of fish to foreign markets and increased the price of spare parts for fishing enterprises and vessels fishing.

In December, Solodov attributed the rise in caviar prices to a decrease in salmon catch in 2024. According to him, 130 thousand tons of this fish have been caught in the region over the past year, which is three and a half times less than in 2023. As caviar consumption in the country grows, there is a price imbalance, he added.
