OREANDA-NEWS  Since the beginning of July, Lithuania has been introducing additional requirements for the transit of goods through the territory of Russia and Belarus — now carriers will have to submit a manufacturer's declaration at customs. The country explains the tightening of the rules by the need to stop circumvention of international sanctions. This is reported on its website by the Customs Department of the republic.

From July 3, the document will have to be submitted at the Lithuanian customs when declaring goods for export and re—export, and from July 17 - at customs offices operating at border control points. The restrictions will affect 57 product groups.

Products that can be used "for military purposes or to increase the capacity of Russian industry" will fall under the tightening of transit. Starting next month, companies will have to indicate in the customs declaration confirmation that the manufacturer of the goods knows the seller, buyer and end user in a third country.

In addition, it will be necessary to confirm that the goods will be transported in transit through Russia or Belarus and will not be resold in these countries. The Customs Department emphasizes that without the provision of these documents at the Customs of the Republic of Lithuania, the goods will not be released from the European Union (EU).

In mid-June 2022, the Lithuanian side notified the Kaliningrad Railway of the termination of transit of some goods that fell under EU sanctions. The list includes, for example, products made of cast iron and steel, fuel for jet engines, goods for the aviation and space industries, as well as cosmetics and perfumes.
