One country wanted to double its trade with Russia

OREANDA-NEWS The United Arab Emirates (UAE) wanted to double trade with Russia in the next five years. President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan announced his desire to increase trade, as quoted by Interfax.
At a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Nahyan noted that relations between the two countries have been developing at an accelerated pace in recent years. The trade turnover between them reached 11.5 billion dollars.
"We would like this figure to double in the next five years, both in direct relations between our countries and in relations between the EurAsEC countries," the politician stressed.
As Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, said earlier, the total volume of domestic trade between the BRICS countries managed to reach a trillion dollars. He called the achieved result a "significant milestone", which indicates the strengthening of trade and economic ties within the association, as well as its increasing role in the global market.
Besides Russia, BRICS includes Brazil, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, the United Arab Emirates, Iran and Pakistan. In January 2025, Indonesia joined them.
