OREANDA-NEWS. On August 06, 2009 The telephone conversation between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov took place on the initiative, reported the Official website turkmenistan.gov.tm.

Greeting the leader of Uzbekistan the President of Turkmenistan heartily congratulated Ilsam Karimov on the coming 18th anniversary of independence of Uzbekistan and expressed the wishes of happiness and wellbeing, new bright accomplishments in realizations of the ideas and fulfillment of the plans on further national development to the President and people of Uzbekistan.

Cordially thanking Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for the heartfelt wishes and congratulations Islam Karimov emphasized that the intergovernmental Turkmen-Uzbek relations had been brought up to a qualitatively new, higher level promoting expansion and intensification of the good neighbourly ties.

Noting that today these relations were developed to meet the potential of the two countries and their willingness to employ it in mutual interests the sides exchanged views on the urgent issues of bilateral cooperation and the prospects for further intensification of partnership. The leaders highly appreciated the significance of joint large-scale projects aimed at employing the existing opportunities as well as creating the new ones to enhance mutually advantageous partnership.

In this context the Presidents emphasized that the Turkmenistan-China transnational gas pipeline that crossed the territory of neighbouring Uzbekistan was to be an effective factor of social and economic development of the participating countries.

Informing that the project was under completion Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited Islam Karimov to take part in the ceremony of putting Turkmenistan-China gas pipelines into operation.

Thanking for the invitation the Uzbek leader said that the gas pipeline was a bright symbol of friendship and cooperation between the neighbouring peoples.

Then the sides expressed satisfaction at the level and dynamics if the intergovernmental dialogue and agreed to maintain close contacts to promote consistent development of bilateral cooperation.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited Islam Karimov to pay a visit to Turkmenistan at any convenient in time. The invitation was accepted with gratitude, the exact dates of the visit would be adjusted through the diplomatic channels.

In conclusion the leaders exchanged the wishes of good health and every success and expressed the best wishes of peace and wellbeing to the fraternal peoples of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
