OREANDA-NEWS  Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday launched the first regular route of river electric transport on the Moscow River, RIA Novosti correspondent reported.

Accompanied by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, the head of state visited the Northern River Port. "In a good hour, in a good way…I allow it," Putin said, and the first ship, having buzzed, set off from the Kievsky pier.

"Humming like a real one." — the mayor joked. "The real one, of course," the president said.

According to Sobyanin, three more river tram routes will be launched in the coming years, two routes will run this year.

"This year we will launch another route and in the coming years we plan three more routes. Thus, almost the entire water area of the Moskva River in all city borders will be covered by passenger traffic in one way or another," he said.

According to the materials of the press service of the Moscow City Hall, travel along the route of the first river tram is free until June 23 inclusive, it will be possible to enter the vessel using a "Troika", a bank card, including one loaded into an Android phone with NFC, or by biometrics, while the money for travel will not be debited.

The first regular route connected Kievsky railway station with the Heart of the Capital pier in the area of the residential complex of the same name on Shelepikhinskaya Embankment. The second regular route "Avtozavodsky Bridge — Printers" is planned to open in the IV quarter of 2023.
