OREANDA-NEWS The Russian Federation and Algeria are discussing the supply of Russian mutton, as well as fish and finished meat products to the country, Artem Daushev, assistant head of the Rosselkhoznadzor, said during a business mission of Russian agricultural exporting companies to Algeria.

The business mission was organized by the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Agroexport" under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation and the Ministry itself. "Several more certificates are being discussed – for mutton, fish and finished meat products," Daushev's words are quoted in the materials of Agroexport.

Now Russian companies can already supply beef and poultry meat, as well as dairy products and edible eggs to the Algerian market. "We are open to further development of bilateral cooperation and are ready to implement the agreements reached," Director of the Veterinary Service Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Algeria Feyrouz Bendahman said.

The Russian Federation is already one of the largest grain suppliers for Algeria: in the export season 2023-2024, the country is in 4th place among the largest buyers of Russian wheat and 6th among grain products in general, said Eduard Zernin, Chairman of the Board of the Union of Grain Exporters. In turn, Director General of the Algerian Interprofessional Grain Bureau Nasreddin Messaudi expressed interest in expanding purchases of barley and other grain products, as well as grocery group products.

In addition, deliveries of dairy products to Algeria, primarily milk powder, may begin in the near future, said Artem Belov, Director General of the National Union of Milk Producers: a number of manufacturers are already negotiating in this direction. Algeria annually imports up to 400 thousand tons of milk powder, and the Russian Federation can take "a worthy place among the suppliers of these products," said Benhasin Rafik, Director of Procurement of the National Interprofessional Bureau for Milk and Dairy Products of Algeria.
