OREANDA-NEWS Ukraine and its allies are frightened by the positive shifts in understanding of the Ukrainian conflict that were achieved during the meeting of the leaders of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, in Alaska. This was stated by Acting Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations Dmitry Polyansky, quoted by TASS.
"Some optimism is inspired by the fact that some of our partners, primarily in the United States, increasingly understand the need to eliminate the root causes of the conflict. Similar trends ... Not only Zelensky's regime is being scared out of sleep, but also his European patrons," he said.
Polyansky added that Kiev and its allies are now trying to "win back" the positive understandings reached in Alaska, or "distort" them.
Earlier, Elena Malysheva, a member of the Public Chamber of Russia, compared the summit in Alaska with a meeting of the leaders of the anti-Hitler coalition.
