OREANDA-NEWS  Tests of the latest laser systems designed to combat unmanned aerial vehicles have been completed in Russia. This was reported in the government, RIA Novosti reports.

Testing took place at a special training ground, where various scenarios for intercepting drones of several types were worked out. As the developers noted, the tests confirmed the stated characteristics of the new systems.

Laser weapons should become part of a unified air defense network, the concept of which was presented by Russian President Vladimir Putin the day before. According to him, the role of air combat in modern conflicts has changed significantly, and effective means of countering drones are becoming critical.

Earlier, President Putin said that the share of modern weapons in Russia's nuclear triad is 95 percent, the highest in the world.
