OREANDA-NEWS  The maintenance of one prisoner in the capital's pre-trial detention centers costs the state budget 15 thousand rubles. This was announced on Monday, December 12, by Olga Druzhinina, deputy chairman of the ONC of Moscow, in an interview with a news channel.

The human rights activist stressed that due to the protracted investigation, people can be in jail for years, while the money for their maintenance comes from the taxes of Russians. At the same time, the amount spent on prisoners turns out to be more than the average pension in the country and the subsistence minimum.

Druzhinina drew attention to the list of measures of suppression and types of punishments, which allows the court to "individually approach any issue."

On August 24, the FSIN was told about the shortage of places in Russian pre-trial detention centers.
