OREANDA-NEWS The Basmanny Court of Moscow on Thursday found three entrepreneurs guilty of especially large-scale embezzlement of funds from the Pushkin Map state program.

"The court sentenced Viktor Yakubov to 6 years in prison, Ilya Safonov and Emil Gurbanov to 5 and 4 years in prison, respectively," the court said.

The convicts will serve their sentences in a general regime colony.

The court also partially satisfied the claims of the injured parties, collecting from the convicts in solidarity in favor of the Ministry of Culture more than 181 million rubles and "Post Bank" about 23 million rubles.

Earlier, during the investigation, the court seized the property of the accused worth more than 110 million rubles in order to compensate for the damage caused by the crime.

All three were found guilty under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud committed by an organized group on a particularly large scale).

They opened bank accounts, and the status of individual entrepreneurs was also used for the purpose of theft.

As explained in the TFR, the accomplices searched among Internet users for persons who had prepaid "Pushkin cards" with an unused limit of funds. They were persuaded to buy tickets to events organized by scammers. At the same time, the volume of tickets sold obviously and many times exceeded the spectator capacity of the rented venues. Ticket payments were reimbursed within the framework of the youth social support program at the expense of budgetary funds, and the visibility of attending events was provided by extras attracted for monetary remuneration.

As a result, according to the Prosecutor General's Office, the defendants stole more than 200 million rubles, which caused especially large-scale damage to the budget of the Russian Federation and JSC "Post Bank", which issued these cards.
