OREANDA-NEWS Moscow's Savelovsky Court has sentenced Elena Blinovskaya, a blogger and creator of the Marathon of Desires project, to five years in a general regime penal colony in a tax evasion case, an Interfax correspondent reported.

In addition, Blinovskaya was fined 1 million rubles, and she was banned from holding managerial positions in commercial organizations for four years, according to the court verdict announced on Monday.

At the request of the prosecutor's office, the court recovered about 587 million rubles from the blogger in favor of the Russian Federation.

The court also confiscated Blinovskaya's various assets: real estate in Moscow and other regions, cars, a boat, and funds in rubles and foreign currency in various accounts.

According to the Moscow prosecutor's office, Blinovskaya was found guilty of tax evasion (Part 2 of Article 198 of the Criminal Code), money laundering (paragraph "b" of part 4 of Article 174.1 of the Criminal Code), as well as illegal circulation of means of payment (part 1 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code).
