OREANDA-NEWS  The Russian Federation intends to develop relations with Burkina Faso and is interested in this with all African countries, said Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation.

Earlier, the African Initiative news agency published information that on Wednesday, 100 Russian military specialists arrived in the capital of Burkina Faso, Ouagadougou, along with equipment and weapons. In particular, it was reported that Russian specialists would ensure the security of the President of the transitional period, Ibrahim Traore.

"I will not comment on this information in any way, I will leave it without comment. As for our relations with Burkina Faso, we intend to develop them, we are interested in developing these relations, and in all possible areas," Peskov told reporters, answering the question of how the Kremlin could comment on this information and how relations between Russia and Burkina Faso could be characterized in general.

He noted that this also applies to relations with other African countries that show mutual interest.

"We will consistently continue to work on the implementation of those understandings, those agreements that were reached at the relatively recent St. Petersburg Russia-Africa summit," Peskov added.
