OREANDA-NEWS  About two percent of Russian men enjoy the right to take parental leave, Interfax reported, citing data from the Social Fund (the organization was founded at the beginning of the year by reorganizing the Pension Fund of Russia with the simultaneous accession of the Social Insurance Fund to it), without specifying the number of such employees.

At the same time, as it turned out from the results of a survey conducted recently by the Romir research holding, almost half of the country's fathers are ready for such a step: 49 percent of Russian men who have at least one child have not ruled out the possibility of going on maternity leave in the event of the birth of another one.

Maternity payments in 2023 in Russia amount to 40 percent of the average earnings for two years, but no more than 33,281 thousand rubles. According to the data provided by the department of the Social Fund for the Saratov region on August 1, 146 people out of 12 thousand local residents who have gone to decree are fathers.

Earlier it became known that the Russian Ministry of Labor has developed amendments to legislation that preserve child care payments for working mothers. As Minister Anton Kotyakov explained, the allowance will continue to be paid even if its recipient returns to work full-time ahead of schedule. In addition, during the period of maternity leave, they will be allowed to find employment in other places, while maintaining guarantees from the previous employer.
