OREANDA-NEWS The key rate in Russia will decrease, and there is no talk of stagflation against the background of a cooling economy in the country, said Artem Kiryanov, deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy, whose opinion is cited by NSN.
The parliamentarian commented in this way on the statements of government representatives who called the situation in the Russian economy at SPIEF 2025 "cold snap" and even "winter". In particular, such a metaphor in an interview with the newspaper.Ru" was used by Boris Titov, the special representative of the President of the Russian Federation, according to whom, due to the fact that the cost of production is rising, and with it, with a decrease in demand, prices will rise, the situation is approaching stagflation - a combination of rising prices and falling GDP — which he called "the most difficult macroeconomic decision."
"I don't quite agree that we have stagflation or, God forbid, recession," Kiryanov said, noting that at the event in St. Petersburg, caution was observed in forecasts, and from his point of view, GDP growth will reach 3.5—4 percent, that is, it will be significantly higher than predicted by experts 1-2 percent per year.
