OREANDA-NEWS  The team of the American President Donald Trump intends to impose new sanctions against Russia. The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) writes about this, citing senior sources.

"They think they have a political cover to consider (new sanctions. — "Newspaper.Ru") in the event that Trump really decides that he has had enough [of Russian President Vladimir] Putin," the publication says.

It is noted that the issue of strengthening the sanctions regime is already being addressed by the US Treasury Department and the US State Department.

Earlier, Reuters reported that members of the House of Representatives from the Democratic Party of the United States had submitted a bill to tighten sanctions against Russia and strengthen support for Ukraine.

The document contains provisions on the allocation of funds to ensure the "security and restoration" of Ukraine and the introduction of harsh anti-Russian sanctions. The bill is authored by Gregory Meeks, a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

Earlier, the Kremlin told how the extension of sanctions against Russia would affect negotiations with the United States.
