OREANDA-NEWS Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said on a local TV station that he would visit Israel in November to start negotiations on the purchase of natural gas and its transit to Europe through Turkey, Reuters reports.

According to him, the republic has recently signed contracts for the supply of natural gas to Romania, Moldova and other countries, and also receives requests from other European countries. In particular, Germany is interested in this issue, which is especially actively looking for an alternative to Russian pipeline gas.

In September, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a visit to New York and after it said that the countries discussed joint steps in the field of gas production and supply.

Last year, Israel already expressed interest in gas supplies to Europe, but then it was assumed that it was about participating in Egypt's scheme. At the same time, the authorities of the republic recognized that the existing infrastructure does not allow transferring significant amounts of fuel.
