OREANDA-NEWS An unknown person doused the Russian Embassy in Canada with red paint. Vladimir Proskuryakov, the envoy-adviser of the diplomatic mission, reported about the incident in Ottawa.

"Another case of Russophobia occurred on the night from Monday to Tuesday, when an unknown person in a completely face—covering mask poured red paint over the foundation of the embassy fence, thereby causing significant damage to the Russian Embassy," he said.

According to him, the embassy has already appealed to the police and handed over the video recordings from the surveillance cameras. In addition, the diplomatic mission sent a note to the Canadian Foreign Ministry demanding to ensure the security of the Russian mission in accordance with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

In addition, Proskuryakov stressed that the Canadian embassy in Moscow is still functioning in "full comfort" mode, since the Russian side fully ensures and respects the rights of foreign diplomatic missions. He also recalled the principle of reciprocity, therefore, it is in the interests of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to ensure the safety and security of diplomatic missions.

Earlier, the ambassadors of the United States, Britain and Canada were summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry. The press secretary of the Russian department, Maria Zakharova, later explained that what the ambassadors of the states arranged before the Moscow City Court had nothing to do with their duties.
