OREANDA-NEWS The Lenfilm film studio is being transferred to the ownership of St. Petersburg, and the corresponding initiative of St. Petersburg veterans has been supported by Russian President Vladimir Putin, the press service of the Ministry of Culture reported.
This initiative was presented to the head of state by Olga Lyubimova, Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation, and Alexander Beglov, Governor of St. Petersburg.
Beglov, quoted by the ministry, called the decision to transfer Lenfilm to the ownership of St. Petersburg "an important step in the preservation and development of national cinema."
"A legendary studio with a unique creative heritage is returning to the city. Lenfilm has always been an iconic object on the cultural map of the Northern Capital," Beglov said.
Lyubimova, in turn, wrote in her telegram channel that the studio's work will focus on patriotic and historical films.
"This will open up new opportunities to create projects dedicated to our heroes, as well as to support talented directors and actors," Lyubimova said. "In its new capacity, Lenfilm will contribute to the formation of a sense of historical responsibility among Russian youth and foster love for the Motherland through high-quality film products."
"During meetings with filmmakers and at our pitchings, we see that there are a great many interesting ideas, many of which can now be implemented thanks to the work of Lenfilm as an intellectual and production center for patriotic and historical cinema," the minister added.
