OREANDA-NEWS South Korean rapper PSY, who became famous thanks to the viral track Gangnam Style, was detained by police for illegally obtaining prescription psychotropic drugs, Yonhap news agency reports.
"PSY is accused of receiving prescriptions for psychotropic drugs from 2022 until recently from the University Hospital in Seoul without personal visits, as well as of his manager and other third parties receiving medications on his behalf," the article says.
It is specified that the performer's doctor was also detained, who denied all charges and stated that consultations with the doctor were conducted remotely.
"PSY has been diagnosed with a chronic sleep disorder and is taking sleeping pills as prescribed by a doctor. There was no prescription by proxy, although in some cases third parties received medicines on his behalf," Yonhap quoted the artist's agents as saying.
