OREANDA-NEWS  Last Saturday, the 76th Cannes International Film Festival ended. The jury, headed by the Swedish director Ruben Estlund, awarded the Palme d'Or to the picture of the Frenchwoman Justine Trier "Trajectory of the fall". Trie became only the third female director in the history of the festival, whose film was awarded the main prize. Before her, only Jane Campion with the melodrama "Piano" in 1993 and Julie Ducourneau with the body horror "Titan" in 2020 succeeded.

"Trajectory of the Fall" is a combination of a family drama and a court thriller. In the center of the plot is the trial of the death of the husband of a German writer who fell out of a window. The court is considering three versions of what happened — an accident, suicide and murder as a result of a family quarrel.

The Grand Prix of the festival was won by the film of the Briton Jonathan Glazer (director of "Sexy Creature" and "Stay in my shoes") "Zone of Interest" is a film adaptation of Martin Amis' novel of the same name about the Holocaust.

The jury prize went to the new picture of the Finnish living classic Aki Kaurismaki "Fallen Leaves".
