OREANDA-NEWS. OMZ-Uralmash, a division of OMZ (Uralmash-Izhora Group) (RTS: OMZZ; LSE: OMZD; OTC: UHMVY), has shipped continuous casting machine equipment to Seversk Pipe Plant, a part of Pipe Metallurgical Company.

According to the press service of OMZ, this is the second continuous casting machine produced by OMZ for TMK. The first machine was supplied to TMK’s Taganrog Metallurgical Plant in June 2006.

At the moment assembly of the Seversk Pipe Plant machine is nearing completion. In December the company will conduct test runs and the unit is expected to be put into operation in early 2007.

The contract for production of the equipment for two new continuous casting machines for Taganrog Metallurgic Plant and Seversk Pipe Plant, was concluded in October 2004. To date the company has produced more than 3,800 tons of equipment.

Both continuous casting machines have been built on the basis of engineering by SMS Demag, one of Germany’s leading machine building companies. These are advanced machines with annual capacity of 1 million tons of steel products.
