OREANDA-NEWS. In 2022, the Russian Ground Forces will begin pilot operation of the «URAN-9» and «Nerekhta» combat robotic complexes, which were tested during the «ZAPAD-2021» strategic exercises. This was announced in an interview with the newspaper «Krasnaya Zvezda» by the commander-in-chief of the Ground Forces, General Oleg Salyukov.

He noted that robotic complexes armed with 30-millimeter automatic cannons, machine guns and anti-tank guided missiles were used for the first time in combat formations and hit all detected targets. They were assigned the tasks of reconnaissance and defeating the enemy. The complexes were managed through operators who monitored the progress of the exercises in real time. Based on the results of pilot operation in 2022, a decision will be made on the number of complexes that will eventually be delivered to the Ground Forces.

He also recalled that since 2019, the development of advanced robotic complexes of heavy and medium classes has been carried out.
