OREANDA-NEWS. April 22, 2010. As the CEO of ANRCETI Sergiu Sitnic has announced at the press conference, optimization of tariffs will take place within the frames of the next, third phase of rebalancing tariffs. Sergiu Sitnic reminded that implementation of the first and second phase of the Plan of rebalancing tariffs, approved by ANRCETI, was held from 2004 to 2006 and stimulated the development of alternative operators of fixed telephony.

Following the suspension of tariff rebalancing, the market was stagnant, and share of SC Moldtelecom in terms of sales made 98.11% and in terms of number of subscribers - 97,5%, respectively. The head of ANRCETI noted necessity to continue rebalancing tariffs for services of SC Moldtelecom to bring them into conformity with the actual costs and to exclude cross-subsidization. Currently, the tariffs for local calls are too low and for international calls-too high. The National operator uses cross-subsidization of telecommunications services.

Sergiu Sitnic stressed that tariff rebalancing will be held in two stages with 6 months’ interval. Currently, ANRCETI and SC Moldtelecom negotiate on the price of the tariff package "Standard", which price will greatly influence the cost of other packages. It is planned that the package "Econom" will be excluded from the list.

According to the Commercial Director of SC Moldtelecom Ion Rosca, at the same time, the social package will be preserved. Citizens of socially vulnerable groups will benefit from the lower tariffs and will pay 50% of the package "Standard". Sergiu Sitnic did not call the projected start of the new phase of rebalancing tariffs, saying only that it will happen this year, and prices for local fixed telephony services will increase as they have not changed for a long time.
