OREANDA-NEWS. December 29, 2011. EMT lowers roaming call prices for its customers in Russia by up to 90 percent starting 2011/12/28 and the cost of messages and mobile internet is reduced as well. This is not a limited campaign, this is EMT’s permanent roaming offer.

“EMT is the first to offer EU roaming prices in Russia,” said Reena Magi, Head of Roaming Services Area at EMT. “In addition to offering affordable prices, EMT stands out with the fact that these prices are valid for all EMT customers in all Russia’s mobile networks that have a roaming agreement with EMT. This way, the service is made easy for customers – they do not have to select network manually in order to get the lowest price”.

Outgoing calls to Estonia and other EEC countries and local calls in Russia will cost €0.42 per minute (all prices are inclusive of VAT). Per-minute rate for received calls in Russia will be €0.132.

Text messaging price will also be reduced – sending an SMS in Russia will cost €0.132. For packet data (mobile internet), cost control function automatically applies with the same conditions as in the EU – a daily cap of €6.95 is valid for data packages for mobile phones and €13.95 for data packages for laptops.

“In May, EMT introduced daily cap on mobile surfing in Europe. Data traffic rose sharply as a result, because customers know that they have complete control over their data roaming costs,” said Magi. “We believe that this trend will be repeated in Russia which is visited by many Estonian business people, and thus there is an increasing need for affordable mobile internet access”.

EEC countries to which calling from Russia will become cheaper: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Estonia, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden.
