OREANDA-NEWS. April 24, 2012. Kazakhmys group opened underground repair points allowing reduced machine idle times and minimized repair costs for mining equipment. Points for which over USD1.6 m were earmarked, are already operational at mines Zhomart, Yuzhniy, Stepnoy and Vostochniy situated at Zhezkazgan site of the Group. By the end of the year it is expected that the construction of additional repair points will be completed at other production sites of Kazakhmys. The equipment of repair points has been mainly produced at Karagandy cast-mechanical plant, which is part of the Group, reported the press-centre of KASE.

In addition, opening of around 15 pit-stops is scheduled for this year, those are underground points designed for maintenance and checking of self-moving equipment.

Over USD14 m were invested in this project. In particular, construction of such pit-stops at mines Artemievskiy, Yuzhno-Snegirikhinsk and Nikolaevskiy will start at the same time. Maintenance will include fuelling, examination of hydraulic connections, level of liquids, lighting equipment, drive belts, steering devices, braking system, as well as wheels and hermetic connections.
