OREANDA-NEWS. Universalmash (a subsidiary of the Kirov Group) has signed a contract to produce a batch of self-propelled tracked chassis for C-300V4 surface-to-air missile system. By the end of 2014, the company will produce 22 units with a total value of 3.1 bln rubles.

Universalmash has signed a contract with JSC Kalinin Machine-Building Plant (a subsidiary of JSC Almaz-Antey Air Defence Concern) for the production of self-propelled tracked chassis for C-300V4 surface-to-air missile systems ordered by a foreign customer. Under this contract the plant, which is a part of Kirov Group, will supply 14 model 830ME chassis and eight model 835ME chassis. The customer will receive the machines by the end of 2014. The contract's total value is 3.1 bln rubles.

This contract for supply of a batch of self-propelled tracked chassis for a C-300V4 surface-to-air missile system follows a series of similar undertakings. Work under the latest contract will be conducted concurrently with work to complete a government defence order for 40 uniform-tracked chassis under a contract awarded in 2012.

The tracked chassis for surface-to-air missile systems, characterised by its excellent cross-country performance and maneuverability, was originally developed by the Tank Design Bureau at Kirovsky Zavod. Combat vehicles equipped with this chassis have been extensively used by Russian armed forces and exported to other countries on a number of occasions.
