OREANDA-NEWS. Russian citizens were not injured during the riots in Kazakhstan. This was announced on Thursday, January 13, by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, at a briefing.

“As for the Russians who suffered during these tragic events in Kazakhstan, according to the information that we receive from Russian diplomatic institutions, Russian citizens were not injured during the riots,” Zakharova said.

Earlier, on January 11, the Commissioner for Children's Rights in Kazakhstan, Aruzhan Sain, said that two children were killed during the riots in the republic.

The Ombudsman said that on January 7, a car with four children was driving through the streets of Alma-Ata, the car was fired upon. A four-year-old girl died. Sain also stated that on January 5, a child died from a gunshot wound in Alma-Ata. According to her, parents were walking with their children when a shot was fired, which became fatal for an 11-year-old Kazakhstani.

On January 9, it was reported that 164 people were killed in Kazakhstan as a result of riots. It also became known about the death of 17 security officials, two of them were beheaded.

The Kazakh authorities opened 494 criminal cases against the rioters, including 44 for acts of terrorism. This was announced on Thursday, January 13, by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic.
