OREANDA-NEWS. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky that Kiev is waiting for security guarantees, including from Russia, since the Budapest Memorandum does not work. It is reported by TASS.

According to him, the Budapest Memorandum does not work, and Ukraine is not in any security alliances, so Kiev has to defend itself on its own with the support of partners.

“Ukrainians are dying, so Ukraine needs security guarantees, clear, concrete now. Because we want to know that we can protect our people, our homes and not only ourselves,” the President of Ukraine said.

He stated that countries should provide security guarantees to Ukraine, and Russia should be on this list of countries, since it has concentrated 150,000 troops on the border with Ukraine.

Earlier, Zelensky called for the “finally and irrevocably” stop of Nord Stream 2, calling the Russian gas pipeline “a weapon that is already being used against Ukraine, all of Europe.”

Prior to this, Zelensky announced the call-up of reservists to the armed forces of Ukraine, explaining this by the need to quickly complete the army and other military formations. He stressed that it is only about the citizens included in the operational reserve.
