OREANDA-NEWS. The first Chongqing-Duisburg container train (41 forty-foot containers) with HP products has recently passed Altynkol station and the Dry Port in the SEZ "Khorgos - Eastern Gate".

This route is primarily attracted to the Kazakhstan Railways partners because of its high-quality logistics services provided by the Dry Port in the Special Economic Zone "Khorgos - Eastern Gate". The region is known for its well-aligned logistics infrastructure and successfully operated transport and logistics hub. Favorable climate conditions in the region play an important role in implementing the overload procedures: transit trains timely pass the terminal, with no downtime due to weather conditions.

Mr. Ronald Kleijwegt has scheduled his visit to the Altynkol station and the Special Economic Zone "Khorgos - Eastern Gate". Mr. Kleijwegt has highly evaluated the Dry Port infrastructure and emphasized the opportunities for increasing the processing capacity of container flows through Khorgos. He compared the area with Jebel Ali Free Zone, JAFZA, the largest free economic zone in Dubai (United Arab Emirates), and expressed confidence that Kazakhstan's transport and logistics hub is evolving with the same scenario and technologies.

So far, seventeen container trains with HP products have passed through Altynkol station only during this month. This number is expected to grow by over eighty until the end of the year. Total time of processing through the border and transloading in Altynkol and Dry Port including customs handling and transshipment from narrow gauge (1435) to wide (1520) thanks to modern equipment in the Dry Port were actually held one hour faster than scheduled. The train will pass the Kazakhstan’s territory and reach the Russian border through the main railway lines including the new Zhezkazgan-Saksaulskaya railway line.
