OREANDA-NEWS  The export of Russian thermal coal was on the verge of profitability due to the decline in world prices. This was caused by a decrease in world fuel prices, with reference to the materials of the Analytical Center of the Fuel and Energy Complex of the Ministry of Energy, the Vedomosti newspaper reports.

The economy of supplies through the ports of the North-West and South of Russia, from where shipments mainly go to Turkey and India, has reached a negative level of minus 500-2000 rubles per ton. Exports through the ports of the Far East remain profitable, but since the beginning of the year, sales revenue has decreased fourfold — to less than 500 rubles per ton.

At the beginning of June, the cost of delivering a ton of Russian thermal coal was about $80.2 with shipment in the north-west of the country, $82.8 in the south and $89.8—100.5 in the east. In order for exports to remain break-even, the cost of fuel should be from $ 80 to $ 110 per ton.
