OREANDA-NEWS At least four tankers with Russian oil are idling off the west coast of India. This was reported by Bloomberg.

According to the agency, the reason for the hitch was that Indian purchases of this Russian hydrocarbon became the focus of attention amid pressure from the United States and the European Union. We are talking about the sanctioned ships Achilles and Elyte, which are anchored off Jamnagar. Two other tankers, Destan and Horae, are located even further from the coast.

It is noted that after US President Donald Trump threatened high import duties to purchasers of Russian oil, New Delhi called on Indian oil refineries to develop plans to purchase oil from other countries.

There is evidence that last week, India's state-owned refineries had already stopped buying Russian oil, fearing 100 percent US duties. At that time, this applied to companies such as Indian Oil Corp, Hindustan Petroleum Corp, Bharat Petroleum Corp and Mangalore Refinery Petrochemical Ltd.
