OREANDA-NEWS  The Subcommittee on the provision of financial measures of state support for individual organizations of economic sectors has approved assistance to two coal companies from the Kemerovo region — Northern Kuzbass and Power of Siberia. This is stated in a message on the website of the Ministry of Finance of Russia.

Both of them received the opportunity to restructure their debts to creditors and the right to debt holidays, that is, deferred tax payments and insurance premiums.

Separately, the Power of Siberia will be provided with a logistics subsidy from the federal budget after the authorities have formed an appropriate mechanism. It is assumed that direct support will allow the company to eliminate the resulting cash gap.

Last week, the Ministry of Finance reported that seven coal enterprises that found themselves in a difficult situation had already received support from the subcommittee, that is, subsidies, debt restructuring and loan deferrals. At that time, five more companies were under consideration, and 40 were preparing appeals.

At the same time, the draft resolution "On measures to support coal industry organizations", authored by the finance department, was submitted to the government for consideration. According to preliminary estimates, the total proposed support measures will cost the budget 63 billion rubles.

Earlier, Dmitry Islamov, deputy head of the Ministry of Energy, admitted that the situation in the Russian coal industry is deteriorating every month, so that 51 enterprises are closed or on the verge of closure by mid-summer. In the first five months, the total losses of the industry have already amounted to 128.6 billion rubles, which is comparable to the losses for the whole of 2024.
