OREANDA-NEWS. Convergys Corporation (NYSE: CVG), a global leader in customer management, is excited to announce a new location in Columbus, Georgia. The new site, located at 1838 Victory Drive, will add more than 450 new jobs to the community over the next 18 months. It is the company’s second location in Georgia, joining our Valdosta site. Convergys is proud to expand our footprint to over 800 employees in the Peach State.

“Two of Convergys’ Values are Grow as a Team and Serve the Community. At our core, we believe in creating careers – not just jobs – and giving back to the communities in which we live and work,” said Andrea Ayers, President  & CEO for Convergys. “We are proud to open our doors in Columbus and welcome anyone who is interested in joining our Georgia team to check out our website and apply.”

Convergys is hiring customer service representatives, as well as positions in Talent Acquisition, Human Resources, and Operations Management. Applicants can go to www.careers.convergys.com to apply.

“One of our main priorities is to attract new companies to Columbus,” said Russ Carreker, chairman of the Development Authority of Columbus. “Our economic development partners at the Columbus Chamber quickly reacted to Convergys’ objectives and tight timeline, and in turn, we were able to provide the company access to an available building and resources that will hopefully allow them to be successful in the community for a long time to come.”

According to Brian Anderson, President  & CEO of the Greater Columbus Georgia Chamber of Commerce, “With the workforce and telecommunications infrastructure we have in place, the Columbus region continues to be well-positioned to target and compete for companies that are engaged in Business Support Services, like Convergys. As we verified in the recent Regional Prosperity Initiative, the region’s significant populations of military spouses and students are a marketable asset, and job growth in these ‘back-office’ positions will create more local opportunities.”

“Convergys’ decision to expand their Georgia operations in Columbus highlights the strength of Georgia’s workforce, pro-business environment and telecommunications infrastructure,” said GDEcD Commissioner Chris Carr. “We are thankful for our economic development partners in the Columbus area, and we look forward to supporting Convergys as they continue to deepen their footprint in Georgia.”
