The price increase is explained by an increase in costs, including due to avian flu. Anastasia Vyalikova, Director of Agriculture and Food Industry Development at Reksoft, explains the trend with increasing costs for feed, drugs, and incubation eggs.

In the summer of 2024, the cost of the two most popular types of meat — pork and chicken - was almost equal in Russia. Since the beginning of 2024, pork has fallen in price by five percent, in the wholesale segment it cost 171 rubles in early June, according to the assessment of the Ministry of Agriculture. Chicken meat fell in price by almost two percent and cost 162 rubles per kilogram.
