OREANDA-NEWS  Iranian producers continue to supply cement to Russia, despite the protracted conflict in the Middle East. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the data of the industry company "Tsemros".

Supplies are carried out by sea, through the ports of the Astrakhan region and Dagestan, experts said. Currently, there are no risks of large-scale disruptions in the supply of Iranian cement to Russia. The volume of shipments remains at a stable level, the analysts explained.

However, it is an extremely difficult task to track the exact volumes and the final destination of Iranian imports, the company noted. This is due to the closed statistics on the production and export of key building materials in the Middle Eastern country.

By the end of 2025, Iran became the second largest supplier of cement to Russia, second only to Belarus in this indicator. The share of the Middle Eastern country in the structure of Russian imports of this building material is estimated at about two percent. At the beginning of 2026, the indicator increased to 2.4-2.5 percent, Cemros said.

The company called the active import of Iranian and Belarusian cement one of the main problems for Russian manufacturers. Coupled with a sharp drop in demand for key building materials in the domestic market, this has hit the profitability of the business. As a result, the management of Tsemros had to stop the operation of two plants in the Belgorod and Ulyanovsk regions. In the current reality, it becomes unprofitable to produce cement in large volumes, since some of the products remain unclaimed, the holding explained.
