OREANDA-NEWS  The demand for sparkling wines in Russia is growing due to the fashion for a healthy lifestyle and the need for lighter types of alcohol. This is how restaurateur Dmitry Levitsky explained the growing popularity of this type of drink, as quoted by NSN.

According to the expert, the increase in sales of sparkling wines is a global trend due to the fashion for healthy lifestyle. In addition, sparkling wines are more democratic in packaging, which facilitates their production.

"The conclusion that expensive wine will necessarily be of high quality is not relevant, since dozens of factors affect the price. The share of the winemaker in each bottle, if we are talking about Russian wine, is about 40 percent, the rest is VAT, logistics, storage, and so on," he explained.

According to Atol experts, sales of champagne and sparkling wines in non-chain retail increased by eight percent in January-February 2025. Beer became the most popular drink, with 58 percent of its sales.
