OREANDA-NEWS   First of all, Russian producers of alcohol from domestic raw materials or imported from the former republics of the USSR will benefit from the increase in duties on strong alcohol from unfriendly countries. Pavel Shapkin, Chairman of the National Consumer Rights Protection Union, called the NSN the party that will benefit from the government's decisions.

Starting from May 1, the Russian government intends to increase duties on strong alcohol from unfriendly countries from three to five euros per liter. According to available information, in this way the authorities hope not only to replenish the budget, but also to stop the decline in demand for Russian cognac and whiskey. The current amount of duties (20 percent of the customs duty, but not less than three euros) is effective from September 2024.
